It’s been five months since the collapse of our beloved old arena, known to some as the ‘Old Barn’, ‘Old Girl’, ‘Grand Lady’. Thank you once again to all our surrounding communities that stepped up and helped us with ice time, what would we ever have done without you! And we are so very fortunate to have the existing Multi-plex to continue with the ever-expanding Hockey Camps this summer.
On June 18th, Sylvan Lake Town Council hosted a “Meet & Greet” and unveiled the ‘preliminary’ schematic designs of the new NexSource Centre. What a community centre this will be! Our new hub will indeed be ‘home’! The “Old Barn”, “Old Girl”, “Grand Lady” is shining down us. We will have a beautiful, welcoming new home to once again gather with friends and family, and build new relationships. A place where new memories and stories will be told for generations to come. It will be the ‘heart’ of our wonderful community once again!

- Revitalized arena and the addition of a new ice surface
- Curling rink with 5 sheets of ice
- Special Events Centre for performances, banquets and conferences
- Children and youth activity areas
- Dedicated space for seniors’ programs
- Multipurpose rooms and spaces for a variety of users
- 3-lane running/walking track
- Upstairs lounge area for social gathering
- And, it will be connected to the existing swimming pool.
It will be a complete centre for our Hockey Camps, players and their families. It’s been a crazy few months after the collapse, but SLHC continues to expand and move forward. So excited! Projected date of completion, 2016.
