SLHC First Sports Organization in Alberta to Provide Red Cross “Safe From Violence & Abuse” Mini Workshops.

KIDS DESERVE SPORTS THAT ARE SAFE FROM VIOLENCE AND ABUSE.
Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp is proud to partner with Canadian Red Cross!

WE WILL BE THE FIRST SPORTS ORGANIZATION IN ALBERTA to provide information and short “Be Safe!” and “It’s More Than Just A Game” workshops to our athletes.

MINI WORKSHOPS AIM TO INCREASE THE PERSONAL SAFETY of our children, particularly preventing child sexual abuse, and to focus on abuse, neglect and harassment in sports for young athletes.

CANADIAN RED CROSS RespectEd PROGRAM RUNNING FOR 30 YEARS.
It’s aim is “to create safe environments free of violence – bullying, abuse, exploitation – through prevention education and response”.

COMBINATION WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG ADULTS  (Rovers) working with our youth, adult staff, facilitators and supporters. Combination on-line and in-person workshops educate them on bullying, harassment and healthy/unhealthy youth relationships. These workshops bring awareness and prevention strategies.

OUR YOUTH ATHLETES DESERVE TO BE TREATED FAIRLY & WITH RESPECT!
They need to know when a coach crosses the line with excessive punishment. Overdoing or increasing workouts, or forcing excessive exercise, for example. Or threatening to hurt or use physical force.

PARENT PACKAGES INCLUDE PROGRAM OUTLINES & VIOLENCE & ABUSE BROCHURES.
Kids have a strong and very normal need to belong with peers.

DISCLOSURE TIPS FOR PARENTS aids in preparing them when they suspect abuse or when a child reveals abuse. Make it safe to tell. Reward the children for showing respect, social responsibility and for being helpful.

NOTE: PARENT BEHAVIOUR is one of the most common reasons coaches, managers and officials, of all ages, quit sports.

KIDS DESERVE SPORTS THAT ARE SAFE from Harrassment, Violence and Abuse!
They deserve to be kids, play the sport they love, and have fun!
